The application for FLEG consists of a headshot, resume, some basic identification info (email, phone number, etc) and some short answer questions. It opens on August 16th and is due by 5 PM on September 13th.

No, you can apply for FLEG if you are not in-person for the fall. Most every event for FLEG will be planned for an online format, so there will be no need to be in Gainesville this semester.

On Monday evenings, we have our General Body Meetings (GBMs) where current members, leadership, and older members participate in a thoughtful, in-depth discussion of leadership values. For one hour at a given time during the week, FLEG members will have a committee meeting. Some committees have events and you may meet up with your FLEG mentor sometime during the week, as well. However, it depends on how much you commit to FLEG.

The best part of FLEG for many former members is the relationships that are made during their time in the organization. FLEG can make friends and find mentors that they talk to even after they talk to even after they leave the organization. The mentorship program in FLEG allows for connections among members in the same class and between multiple years of FLEG classes. Make sure to ask SLEG about this at recruitment events for a better answer!

FLEG strives to develop leadership ability and provide leadership opportunities for its members, engineering students, and UF students. Joining this organization will allow you to apply the knowledge acquired from GBMs, your committee, and your events into industry, academia, and other future endeavors. Besides leadership, FLEG also values community, and we strive to provide a safe environment that brings members closer with each other and the University of Florida as a whole.
