Favorite FLEG Memory: My favorite FLEG memory was Fall retreat. Going into FLEG, I knew nobody. I was nervous and felt as if I may not have belonged there. However, after getting to truly interact with everybody in FLEG and just have fun, whether it be volleyball or jumping in Lake Wauburg, I learned that I am not alone. I got to meet wonderful people, making it a great start to the big FLEG family we have now.
Yuwei Huang

Favorite FLEG Memory: My favorite FLEG memories are from hanging out with the collegiate committee and getting to see my committee members. During committee meetings, I always had a great time brainstorming and having fun with side tangents. I wasn’t really work because the people made the meetings fun! I also enjoyed all the socials and outings we scheduled, notably the late night waffle house trips!

Favorite FLEG Memory: My favorite FLEG memory was finding my mentor at mentorship reveal! Over my freshman year I grew very close with my mentors, Michael and Jack. FLEG’s mentorship program is a great opportunity for new students to connect with SLEG and FLEG Alumni.

Favorite FLEG Memory: My favorite FLEG memory was the fall retreat at Lake Wauburg! Aside from the fun water sports and activities, it was a great opportunity to connect outside of an academic setting. I saw how inclusive and supportive the FLEG community is and formed many new relationships that made my first year incredibly memorable.

Favorite FLEG Memory: My favorite FLEG memory was getting to see my peers enjoy our annual Spring Retreat, being able to talk to all the members of our organization as they enjoyed the springs. Within the Spring Retreat, I loved being able to cook for our members, as I got to talk to almost every member of our club and have meaningful conversations.

Favorite FLEG Memory: My favorite FLEG memory is probably mentorship reveal! The anticipation leading up to it was so fun, and everyone was so excited to finally find out who their mentor was. That event really made FLEG feel like a family for me.

Favorite FLEG Memory: My favorite FLEG memory is whipping up scones and ramen with my two dads and twin. I have had an absolute blast with mentorship as it has brought me some of my closest friends in college. That night has sold me on how much of a family FLEG is and will always hold a special place for me.

PJ Gray
Outreach
Major: Mechanical Engineering

Favorite FLEG Memory: FLEG provides so many opportunities that I don’t think I would’ve been able to participate in if not for this organization. My favorite memory through FLEG has to be Outreach’s trips to the Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary. These events involved a group of us volunteering at a local refuge for primates, allowing us to interact with the animals while providing help through cleaning, feeding, etc. It was a great time working with everyone and learning more about animal conservation programs in Gainesville and the larger United States.

Favorite FLEG Memory: My favorite FLEG memory is Spring Retreat! I remember holding hands with friends and jumping right in the refreshing water. I loved how easy it was to just hang out, eat, and play sports with everyone.
Walter Wieler

Favorite FLEG Memory: My favorite FLEG memory the field day hosted by the internal committee during fall semester, where we played a hilariously inventive version of capture the flag. Instead of traditional flags, each team protected a hardboiled egg, which had to be retrieved intact to score. Players were “eliminated” by being hit with rolled-up socks, adding an unpredictable and comedic element to the game. The combination of strategy, chaos, and laughter made it unforgettable. I’ll never forget the seeing everyone running and sliding around the field attempting to grab an egg while dodging flying socks from every direction. That day perfectly captured the spirit of FLEG—creative, collaborative, and community building.

Favorite FLEG Memory: My favorite FLEG memory was Outreach Committee’s Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary day. I remember showing up to the animal sanctuary when it was pouring rain, feeding the monkeys Cheerios, and getting soaked in the back of the golf cart. Regardless, it was an unforgettable day and knowing that we were making a positive impact to the Gainesville community made it even better.

Favorite FLEG Memory: My favorite FLEG memory is our Spring Retreat camping trip! We spent the weekend swimming, cooking together, and sharing stories around the campfire. It was such a fun and meaningful way to deepen the friendships I’d built throughout the year. The sense of connection and support FLEG offers has truly shaped my college experience in the best way.
